Those who came with us to the Panto will agree how good it was again this year, even better than 2008 and that took some doing. Elaine C Smith was fantastic as the fairy godmother and stole the show. Alan McHugh and Jordan Young played the roles of Cinders’ Ugly Sisters! The duo who have been a huge hit in the past two pantos at HMT did not let us down again this year and wore even more outrageous frocks.

Now let me make you really jealous! Only myself...

A great evening was enjoyed by all of us on our recent outing to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It’s always very heartening to see young people join us and on this occasion we had 3 under 16’s developing a love for live theatre as 2 of them have been with us on other outings. What a wonderful show it was, a great cast, with well remembered tunes we were singing along with and exciting sets. The car flying had to be seen as no description could do it justice with the special effects adding to the...

This year our first show was West Side story in May. As usual the theatre was full to capacity and the show lived up to our expectations. As those of you familiar with the story and music will remember there are some very touching moments, many of us sang along at the more joyful parts. The dancers as usual were fantastic, oh that we were all so fit!

In December last 16 of us saw a brilliant production of Peter Pan, oh yes we did!! Keith Jack who you will remember impressed us all in the TV show "Any Dream will do" played the lead and we were all entranced by his performance. We joined in all the usual kind of audience participation which we all really enjoyed. Oh yes we were as enthusiastic as the children.

I set up the Rhynie theatre group in 2008 in order to give the village an easier opportunity to visit the theatre in Aberdeen as we travel in by bus taking us from the village square right to the theatre door, with no parking worries. We do get a discount for group bookings, the more people in the group the better the discount. If like me you don't drive then this is an ideal opportunity as well. We normally leave Rhynie Square at 6.0pm unless the show starts earlier than usual...
